New details in death of Denison teen

DENISON -- Liberty Andino says 15-year-old Brandon White and his younger brother used to play with her children. They were neighbors for a little more than a month before Brandon was found dead inside his Denison home.

The boyfriend of the teenager's mom is now charged in his death.

Police say Robert Gray bound and gagged Brandon. A medical examiner determined White died from asphyxiation.@

Court documents show Brandon was autistic, and that Gray admitted to using bed sheets to restrain Brandon during fits.

Doctor Maria Chlipala and says restraining autistic children should be seen as a last resort ... and that parents should be well-trained in the steps to take before trying.

Child Protective Services tells KTEN it investigated the family several times before they moved to taxman. those complaints, we're told, were for neglectful supervision and issues with inappropriate health care. However, we're told all those reports were ruled out.

Gray, meantime, has a history with the law. Prosecutors say he's a convicted felon with past charges of robbery, drugs and rape.

Andino says she had suspicions.

"I know he would whoop on him and stuff like that and I didn't think that was right. I had a talk with Holly about it," Andino said.

But she says she's standing by her friend.

"I feel really bad for her. I just can't believe it happened. I never thought that they would be like that. I know she didn't have anything to do with this. She loved her kids more than anything. She's the sweetest person in the world," she said.

CPS says Brandon's younger sibling is now in foster care.

Gray is being held on a $500,00 bond. He's facing a first degree murder charge, and investigators say additional charges could be filed.
