An article published by The News-Herald reports that the Callaway Community Farmers Market, which was started in order to meet a state requirement, has now turned into a popular weekly event. Colle Farmers Market applauds their success.
Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) January 11, 2013
On January 11, Colle Farmers Market responds to the rise in popularity of the Callaway Community Farmers Market located in Callaway, Florida, as reported by The News-Herald.
Although the organic farmers market started as part of a $200,000 grant to help fund a sports complex, the article reports that Callaway city officials are very pleased with how popular the market has become since it first opened in November.
The article states that the market is held every Thursday and although some officials were concerned about having a weekday farmers market, since most others are held on weekends, the market has been a big hit. According to The News-Herald, City Manager Marcus Collins said, “We’ve had an increase in people coming every single Thursday night.” He continued, “An increase in vendors as well.”
Several vendors went on to say how much success they’ve seen at the market. Farmers have been selling a plethora of organic food as well as other items, including tupelo, wildflower honey, blueberries, cabbage and more.
Colle Famers Market, an online community that aims at supporting local and organic farmers markets, was pleased to hear of the great turn-out this market has experienced. According to Colle, farmers need an outlet to sell their food and promote what they do for the community and that is exactly what farmers markets, just like the one in Callaway, offer.
Colle is a big supporter of organic foods as well. The company believes that all farmers should be avoiding harmful insecticides and other chemicals when growing fresh produce. The company always reminds farmers that sticking to an organic method of growing is not only safer for their farm workers, but it is a great way to encourage people to buy their products.
Colle is an E-Commerce enabled farmers market community that is passionate about sustainable consumption and responsible conservation. The Colle movement is dedicated to connecting natural product vendors, organic farmers and all consumers who live an organic and natural lifestyle with the ultimate goal of creating more sustainable farming and consumerism.
