DENISON -- 51-year-old Robert Gray, Jr. is facing a first degree murder charge.

According to prosecutors, Gray allegedly killed 15-year-old Brandon Leon White inside a Denison home early Tuesday morning.

According to court documents, White was autistic and bi-polar but hadn't taken his medications in two weeks because the family couldn't afford them.

Prosecutors say Gray and his girlfriend Holly, which was also the teen's mother, had been taking turns the last couple of nights "due to him wandering around the house when everyone else was asleep." According to the complaint, around midnight on Tuesday, January 8, Holly White "asked Gray to watch Brandon so she could get some sleep. When she left Brandon ... he was alive."

Investigators say they received a 911 call at 2:08am Tuesday in reference to a deceased person.

"He was sent to the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy to help us determine what the cause of death was," Mike Eppler with Denison police said.

The medical examiner determined White died from asphyxia, according to the complaint, which also states "it appeared Brandon was bound up and he had struggled to get out of the bindings which caused brush burn abrasions on his face and arms."

Prosecutors say Gray is a convicted felon who has been charged in the past with robbery and rape. Court documents state Gray admitted that "he ties Brandon up with strips of fabric from a bed sheet to restrain his hands behind his back, and his ankles together when Brandon has a violent fit and gags him when he screams and yells." The complaint continues, "While searching the residence several strips of cloth with blood on them were found which Gray advised he had used to gag and bind Brandon."

Police say Gray was arrested without incident Wednesday afternoon. He's being held on $500,000 bond. Eppler says the investigation is ongoing and additional charges could be filed.
