SHERMAN, TX -- Plans are moving forward for a new apartment complex next to Wal-Mart that would provide dozens of people with a new place to live.

The Creed Canyon Apartments project is set to go to the City Council for final approval during a regular meeting at 5 p.m. on Monday.

The 176-unit complex at North Travis Street and East Pecan Grove Road would have five buildings and more than 300 parking spaces. The developer is Creed Canyon Partners Ltd., represented by Matthew Looney of Denison.

Recently, contractors for the Texas Department of Transportation made a few improvements including a new "shortcut" road in the same area.
