Truck Smashes Into Bryan County Overpass

BRYAN COUNTY, OK -- A tractor trailer ran off the highway and through part of an overpass, backing up traffic for miles.

The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. on Highway 69/75 at River Road. Colbert assistant fire chief Jonathan Horn says the truck carrying Miracle-Gro fertilizer swerved off the side of the road, after the driver says he hit the rumble-strips, and then drove through part of the overpass.

"He lost control of his truck and ran off the road and he said there was cars to his left so he made the choice to stay to his right and hit the bridge and this is where it came to rest," says Horn.

The driver of the truck marked Werner Enterprises of Omaha, Neb., was not hurt. One lane of southbound traffic was getting by but it could take hours to remove the truck. A couple hours later, a rollover accident was reported in the northbound lanes.
