SHERMAN, TX -- Amateur actors are taking on one of the biggest holiday movies of all time, as they stage a play based on the film "It's A Wonderful Life."
The Sherman Community Players will be performing their show at the theater on North Elm Street on Thursdays through Sundays, wrapping up on December 16 with two performances.
Radio disc jockey Jason Taylor plays George Bailey, the troubled character made famous by actor Jimmy Stewart. The show's 26 cast members have been busy rehearsing since October.
"It's a place that they can escape to and live another reality," says artistic director Anthony Nelson. "I know as an actor, one of my favorite things is if I'm having a stressful day, I get to go focus on my character for a while."
Tickets are $16 with half price tickets on Thursdays and for students.
