Sherman Shoppers Busy On "Small Business Saturday"

SHERMAN, TX -- A national concept encouraged shoppers who normally head to big box stores to think smaller on Saturday.

The idea of Small Business Saturday popped up a few years ago, to piggy-back on Black Friday. Clothing store owner Rhonda Kohles says traffic in her shop at Midway Mall was good on Saturday. She says owning a business is difficult, but rewarding.

"We do have a lot of customer base that because we're individual they shop here and we work on great customer service," says Jaks owner Rhonda Kohles. "Being a small business, that's what we try to give them is just lots of good customer service."

Kohles says she opened this store on Black Friday three years ago with the help of her son, a Denison firefighter who died of testicular cancer a year later. She hopes he would be proud of how the store is doing.
