Plainview Indians overcome rocky start to surge into playoffs

Posted: Updated:

ARDMORE, OK --  The Plainview Indians are one of the few teams who earned a first round home game, and it's no mystery how.

The new look Indians had a rocky start, but since starting 2-2 have been off to the races, winning their last six straight and only allowing just more than 11 points a game in that span while scoring almost 48.

The way they responded from their tough losses has now put head coach Chris Berus' squad in a good position for a deep playoff run.

"You only find out what you are and who you are when you're sharpened by a good ball club, and obviously you don't want those things to be exposed into the playoffs, because there are no next weeks," Berus said. "In the regular season, there's at least that guarantee of nine more next weeks when you're playing a ten week schedule. As long as you're getting better every week and you do what you have to do to win ball games, then you put yourself in this position."

"We just realized how good we could be if we just really played to our full potential every day. So we'd go out in practice and understand what we needed to get done, we'd get it done," said senior running back/quarterback/linebacker James Bowker.

The Indians will host last year's second round opponent Newcastle at 7:30 Friday night.
