DENISON, TX - If you've seen any denison police officers out patrolling lately.. You may have noticed something different.

It's been a long time coming, but finally the Denison Police Department is sporting some new uniforms with a lot more weather friendly and comfortable options.

Being a police officer is a tough job, so being comfortable in what you're wearing can go a long way.

"We've been wearing this uniform since well over 25 years, it was hot we didn't have much option." said Lieutenant, Jeff Camp.

But not anymore.

A lot of changes are happening at the Denison Police Department, including the way the officers dress.

"Oh I love the changes, whatever can benefit us to make us feel more comfortable when we're doing out job, I think is a plus." Officer Will Deering said.

After more than 25 years of wearing the same traditional polyester uniforms, Denison finally has some new options.

"It's a big change, I've worn the standard blues, and browns and now we've got a chance to go to something that's a lot more comfortable and a lot more modern." Sergeant Mike Byrd said.

"I like the pull over because it's a lot cooler, I like the pants they have more pocket room, and with the shorts that's a good option too when it's hot." said Camp.

While some of the guys are already sporting the new digs, some are still waiting for theirs to come in.

The new uniforms were approved in January, but they only started wearing them about a month ago.

They now have options that include fit dry breathable shirts and even shorts for those extra hot triple digit days.
