DENISON, TX -- The Denison Yellow Jackets' game plan is full of new; a new offense, new coach and a new district.
But even with all that new, there will be some familiar faces out on the field.
"Our defense will have a lot of seniors on it and they've been super receptive," said head coach Chad Rogers, "Sometimes when you have a change like this, seniors are the ones that are affected the most and it happened so quickly. They got six months with you so I had to get them to buy in real early, real quick because there's a lot coming back on defense.
"Quarterback Clifton Hines, who was a starter last year for us, he'll be starting at quarterback for us this year. He's working extremely hard, he's gained some muscle. As opposed to last year and were counting on him to have a great year."
"We got Dylan McConnell, we got Clifton Hines, R.J. Polk, Josh Heath," senior safety/running back Keondrick Golston said, "We got pretty good people coming back."
One of the familiar faces, Clifton Hines, has been working hard all summer to make sure he's ready to lead this team.
"Clifton has come a long way. Everybody says he's slow but he works hard, he worked really hard all summer. He's ready to work. He's ready," said Golston about his quarterback.
The Yellow Jackets know that the best way to adjust to the new is to work together as a team.
"We're hard working, everybody seems to work good together," said senior defensive end/tight end Josh Heath, "We're all in the weight room every day, we run, were in better shape than before. We work as a team better. Its not a 'me' team anymore its a 'team'."
Denison will kick things off Friday Aug. 31 versus Paris.
