DURANT, OK -- The trial has begun for a man accused of killing his own mother.

Ian Edmondson, 24, is accused of stabbing his mother with a sword. A dead dog was also found inside the home at the Timber Ridge Apartments in 2010.

Edmondson's family has told KTEN that he is a paranoid schizophrenic. The case is being heard by a judge and testimony is scheduled to continue tomorrow.
