DURANT, OK -- Plenty of people showed up to get free school supplies for their kids.
A group called Families Feeding Families distributed free school supplies on Tuesday morning. Kids and parents lined up at the Bryan County Assistance Center, where volunteers handed out pencils, folders, backpacks, and other supplies.
the organizer of the supply drive says.. She's been doing it for several years now... And more and more people have been coming to take advantage of the free supplies.
The organizer of today's event Tish Burkhalter says that since she started it in 2004, more and more families have been coming out to pick up the free items. The school year in Durant starts on Thursday.
