Posted: Updated:

JOHNSTON COUNTY, OK - Local emergency crews from Johnston county have given up their weekend to help fellow Oklahomans fight those fires to our north.  Johnston county EMS Director Kenny powers says officials in Luther Oklahoma asked for the assistance of the Johnston county task force so they packed up their gear and took five brush trucks, one tanker, and an EMS unit and headed northbound to help with the fires Friday night.  The task force is made up of 20 firefighters and EMS crew members from Tishomingo, Ravia, Connerville, Milburn and Mill Creek.  Powers says once the Luther fire is under control they will continue on to Cleveland county or any other area their assistance is needed.  Powers did ask for prayers for his crew. These fires are very large and dangerous.  He also tells us Sulpher crews were on their way to Cleveland County to help with the fires south of Norman.
