TISHOMINGO, OK -- Murray State College graduate and former Olympic gold medalist Jesse "Cab" Renick will be inducted into the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame.
Renick was born in Abner, Okla., went to Murray State in 1936 before heading up to Oklahoma A&M (now Oklahoma State) where he led the team in scoring.
After a stint in the Navy during World War II, Renick would play in the first Olympic games after the war helping the USA win its second ever gold medal in the sport.
He was the second Native American to win an Olympic gold medal, was inducted to the Chickasaw Nation Hall of Fame in 1996, the MSC College Hall of Fame in 2007, and will be inducted into the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame alongside Lynee Draper, Ferguson Jenkins, Pat Jones, Perry Maxwell and Dewey Selmon on Monday.
Renick passed away in 1999.
