CALERA, OK -- Strong gusts of wind caught Bryan County residents off guard early Thursday evening. Power went out in a number of businesses and some damage was left behind.
Just before 6:00 pm, 72 mile per hour gusts of wind blew through the county. Calera had the bulk of damage in the county, with multiple power lines down. Some trees were uprooted off of First Street and broken branches were scattered throughout neighborhoods.
As of 8:30 pm Thursday, OG&E reported nearly 1,000 customers without power in Calera, more than 600 in Durant and just under 70 customers without power in Colbert.
