SHERMAN, TX - If you haven't heard of the Crossfit Games, you will soon. Forbes magazine calls it one of the fastest growing sports in America. Hundreds of the most athletic people in the world battled to compete in the 2012 games and one of the finalists is a mother of 4 from right here in Sherman.

She's more than just a mother and a grandmother.

Kim Dunlap is a bit of hero in the local crossfit community.

At age 45 she's doing what countless 20- something year olds wish they could.

She does it all.  Works a full time job and 2 part time jobs and takes care of her family, and as you're about to see, all that ambition is paying off while inspiring others.

Sherman native, 45 year old Kim Dunlap is not your average mom.

"I love working out with her, she pushes me, there's a difference in age between the two of us and she's just tremendous, it's everything I can do to keep up with her." said Che Renteria.

By day she's a radiology technologist at Visionary Medical Imaging.

But there's another side to Kim when she ditches her scrubs for work out gear at Fight Time Fitness.

This busy mother of 4 hits the gym 6 days a week for crossfit.

In February she earned the right to compete in the 2012 Crossfit Games in California.

Her husband, Melvin, says she's setting a good example that fitness doesn't have an expiration.

"It lets other women know that, at 45 or whatever age you can still work out and still keep yourself healthy and be in good shape and live a healthy life, I think she's a great inspiration to the community." said Melvin.

"Our purpose here is just to changes lives, and I hope that me by doing crossfit and being active and encouraging everybody, will inspire people, that's what my desire is." said Kim Dunlap.

In the February Crossfit Games Open, she competed against 2200 women, worldwide in her age category, ages 45 to 49.

She made the top 20 in 11th place.

"Um it makes me feel really good, you see I get all teary eyed, because I'm just blessed that I have the health, that God has blessed me with the health to be able to do this." Dunlap said.

"I'm so excited for her, she deserves it more than anyone else, she is the hardest working person that I've ever seen." said fellow cross fitter, Meredith Doty.

"I had no doubts, even when she doubted herself." Melvin said.

The Crossfit Games are world renowned as a grueling test to determine the world's toughest and most fit athletes.

Next weekend Kim hopes to prove just how tough this mom from Sherman, Texas really is.

The 2012 Crossfit Games are being held in Carson, California on July 13 through the 15th.

Kim is competing in the masters category and the top 3 places will win cash prizes.

She says she wants to thank the local crossfit community - including Fight Time Fitness and Crossfit Solus for all their support.
