SHERMAN, TX--It's no laughing matter, but the Sherman Fire Department has found an original way to raise awareness about fire prevention .
They call themselves the "Klown Kompany." Wednesday, some of the Sherman fire crew were dressed as clowns for a photo shoot. Their images will appear on some area digital billboards stressing fire safety.
They'll be in regular uniform Saturday in the Sherman Walmart parking lot, but with an important message.
"It's a good way to bring people together and not really laugh at things, but just bring attention to a problem that people normally wouldn't think about in their day to day lives," Shane Kenney said, Sherman Firefighter
The Klown Kompany will be at the Sherman Walmart Saturday from 9:00 AM until noon handing out smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to citizens who need one.
In addition to the Walmart location, Sherman citizens can pick one up at any of the 5 area fire stations.
