Skywarn Class Educates Texomans on Severe Weather

Posted:

GRAYSON CO. -- Thursday night hundreds of Texomans are now educated on how to better predict the weather and its severity.  The office of the Grayson County Emergency management in coordination with the National Weather Service put on their annual SKYWARN storm spotter training at the Grayson County College.  Spotters can be active anywhere, anytime.  It only requires a phone call or the internet and they are the eyes and ears on the ground, where radar cannot predict.  Those that attended the class were not obligated to become spotters however, just getting the word out on what to look for in severe weather will help people make the right decisions when the time comes.

If you didn't get the chance to attend the training, other county's emergency management office as well as the national weather service has more information on how to become a SKYWARN spotter.  You can find more information at http://www.nws.noaa.gov/skywarn/.
