Salvation Army to Help Homeless "Survive The Night"

Posted:

SHERMAN, TX--The Salvation Army of Grayson County is finding a different way to help the homeless. Volunteers are starting their "Survive the Night" campaign.

The Salvation Army is looking for area churches and public venues to park their Disaster Canteen so they can reach out and feed the needy.

Volunteers hope to start their eight week campaign during the first week of March. They need local churches to volunteer their time to cook meals and provide food for those who are forced to live on the streets.

"We seek out the homeless to feed them and to give them something hot, to eat and drink, and also to encourage them to come to the shelters that are provided throughout Grayson County," Salvation Army Major Don Wildish said.

During the eight weeks, "Survive the Night" will be every evening from 7:00 to 9:00.

If your church or organization would like to help, please contact the Salvation Army of Grayson County.
