GRAYSON COUNTY,TX--With stormy skies potentially on the horizon in the coming months. Grayson county Emergency Management is gearing up. Fueling up cars, doing emergency test runs and keeping their eyes on the radar.
While they get ready, there are some things people at home can do, like asking these kinds of questions.
"Could you get by with extra blankets, do you have extra sources of heat? Those kinds of things. What if you couldn't get out? Do you always make sure you have 3 to 7 days worth of the medicines you depend on? Or are you letting it get down to the last pill before you head to the pharmacy? All those things you can do can reduce the impact of things like that. " Says Sarah Somers, Emergency Management of Grayson County.
Creating a plan and keeping supplies at home and in your car can help emergency responders get to the life threatening situations first and keep you healthy and safe while you wait for help.
"What we do and why we spend so much time on public information, education and learning is that it reduces the impact of those disasters to Grayson county. So it reduces the impact to you, to your family and we can just do a better job of recovering and getting back to life as we know it." Says Somers.
Hopefully, we don't see any of those disasters this spring, but better to be safe than sorry. Make a plan and stay updated on the latest weather.
