FCC Allows Chicago Station to Drop Super Bowl Abortion Ad

Posted:

CHICAGO, IL--Friday, the FCC ruled against Randall Terry's complaint against WMAQ, the Chicago NBC affiliate, for not airing his pro life advertisement showing fetuses.

The FCC said that Terry could not make a substantial showing in the State of Illinois that he is a bone fide candidate. Even if he were, he would not be entitled to air his commercials during the Super Bowl.

KTEN news spoke will attorney Gloria Allred about the FCC's decision.

"A legally qualified candidate can purchase time but they can't necessarily say exactly when that advertisement has to be broadcasted," Allred said. "They have to be provided with what the FCC calls reasonable access to purchase a reasonable amount of time on a broadcast station."

A letter from the Democratic National Committee states that Terry is not a representative of the DNC.

In Oklahoma he is recognized as a candidate on the ballot. Prior to the presidential primary, Terry has historically been republican.

***KTEN will not be airing Terry's advertisement during the Super Bowl based on the FCC's decision with WMAQ.
