THACKERVILLE, OK -- "We change with the casino and we change with the times," Winstar Entertainment Manager, Rick Lotempio explained.

The rest of the nation seems to be taking notice. The Academy of Country Music pegged Winstar World Casino as one of the top in the country. That means big things for the Global Event Center.

"It shows that we're serious about growing and expanding. It shows that we're competitive and we want to be in the main stream of entertainment and of course, gaming," Lotempio said.

The nomination is based on the venue's ability to bring in some of the top names in entertainment. Lotempio says there's a reason those acts keep coming back.

"It's because of the hospitality that we offer. We don't just offer a stage; we offer everything that goes with it," he said.

As one of the biggest employers in Texoma, the casino wants to keep the entertainment fresh and keep pumping income into the local economy.

"We've expanded our taste in music and performers. And we go after the high end performers because there's a need for it in this demographic," said Lotempio.

The casino is up for the top spot on April first.
