Oklahomans Receive More Than $1.6 Million In Assistance

Posted:

OKLAHOMA - Nearly a year after Atoka County was declared a federal disaster area following the April 14,2011 tornado, the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management and the Federal Emergency management Agency have approved more than $1.6 million in Individuals and Households Program assistance for affected residents.

To date, more than $1.4 million has been approved for Housing Assistance and more than $235,000 in Other Needs Assistance - which includes the repair or replacement of personal property damaged or destroyed during the disaster, transportation costs, medial and dental expenses and funeral and burial costs.

Housing assistance is provided to individuals and families in designated disaster areas whose property has been damaged or destroyed and whose losses are not covered by insurance. The IHP assistance may not replace all disaster related losses, but is intended to aid individuals and families on the road to recovery.
