PONTOTOC COUNTY, OK--A 19-year-old, one of three teens accused of beating an elderly man nearly to death, is heading to prison.
Trey Irvin plead no contest Friday to six counts of attempting to kill. He received 25 years for the crime. Irvin and two other teens were accused of beating, stabbing and robbing 85-year-old Claude Arterburn at his Pontotoc County home last year. He survived.
The victim and his family were in the courtroom to hear Irvin's plea.
"But now he can move on, and wait for the next trial but at lease he's got this one behind him, and we know from the sentence that Papa doesn't have to fear him anymore," Shirley Phillips said, victim's daughter.
"I'm satisfied, I'm satisfied. He won't be here to bother me no more," Claude Arterburn said, victim.
After serving his time, Trey Irvin will be on probation for 10 years. The two other men, Daniel Vivier and Grant Johnson, are also facing charges in this case.
