POTTSBORO, TX - It was a big Saturday afternoon in Pottsboro. Eight members of the 1972 Basketball State Champion boys basketball team gathered to be recognized for an achievement that happened almost 40 years ago. 37-0. That's what the team went under first year head coach Don Dodd and stormed their way through the Texas Class A playoffs. Each member got a plaque with the team picture engraved. And the crowd was reminded of a time in Texas when football wasn't king.
"We were a basketball town. It was a basketball school, and basketball players were pretty important. They were really accepted, and people love them. You know, people love a winner," Dodd explained.
