Football has a different meaning here than anywhere else in the world. Some say it's just a game but in Texoma, it's a way of life.
Every year another group of seniors leave the bright lights and take what they've learned under them out into the world. One thing stays the same: those lights come on every Friday night and under them a new generation of men are made.
There's no other feeling like going to war every Friday with the boys you've become men with, fighting for every inch on a lit up green surface for pride for your town, pride for your upbringing and pride for your teammates. It all ends someday as you walk out of that locker room for the last time. But those lights become a part of you, a memory as big as Texas, you'll never, ever forget. "I'll never regret going through two knee surgeries for this. This year has definitely made my life. I want to thank every single one of you for being a part of it, because it means a whole lot to me. And I will look back on this and I will never regret this year this year has meant so much to every single one of us," said senior running back Jordan Barnes.
"We're brothers out there on that field and I know that I would die for every single one of you and fight for every single one of you." "I hope just me personally, I mean all of our coaches, just what it takes to be a man, to be a husband, to be a father, to be a co-worker to be somebody that has good character. And I think there's so many lessons that football teaches these young men. And for me personally and for our other coaches, hopefully we serve as models for what the game represents," said head coach Mikeal Miller.
The bond you share between teammates, coaches and fans is one that will never be broken. Here in Texas when you walk down the streets you can always tell the ones who were a part of it, they get it. And those lights live on through them, and us, forever.
