Missing Grain Mystery Solved

Posted: Updated:

GRAYSON COUNTY, TX --Millions of dollars of grain went missing in Texoma. Now the man responsible has been found guilty of two felony charges.

On Tuesday 67-year-old John Dale Chumbley, owner of Dorchester Grain Elevator turned himself in. Chumbley plead guilty to fraudulent issuance of a receipt and interference with an inspection.

The Dorchester Grain Elevator was shut down by the Texas Department of Agriculture in November of 2009 after serious inconsistencies were discovered by a state inspector.

Chumbley now must pay farmers hundreds of thousands of dollars in restitution. He has been sentenced to ten years of probation and fined nearly half a million dollars.
