Cheaper, Self-Serve Jet Fuel Can Now Be Found in Texoma

Posted: Updated:

DENISON, TX--More business could be attracted to Texoma because of cheaper jet fuel. The local airport and The Lake Texoma Jet Center have completed a project that they've been working on for months, and it could bring dollars to the local economy.

The North Texas Regional Airport and the Lake Texoma Jet Center have worked together so they can have self-serve Avgas at the airport.

The project was completed Wednesday, and to let the community know, they held a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday at the terminal.

Representatives from both the airport and Lake Texoma Jet Center say that the fuel prices they provide are competitive to many in the market.

"Pilots would get on Airnav, or another searching mechanism and look for the lowest price in an area where they're going to have to stop and this way our price will pop up, we'll get some people in that normally wouldn't come in and they might spend the night, they might spend the weekend," Terry Vogel said, Lake Texoma Jet Center representative.

The project cost an estimated $80,000, according to an airport representative.

For every gallon of jet fuel purchased, about 10 cents goes towards offsetting the project costs.
