Savoy Volunteer Fire Department Hold Benefit

Posted: Updated:

SAVOY, TX--Severe weather is a concern this weekend, but what about the people who deal with disaster daily? A Texoma volunteer fire department is raising money to make sure they can protect their community.

The Savoy Volunteer Fire Department held a barbeque fundraiser at the high school today.

There was live music, a live auction, and plenty of delicious food for the community.

"Without donations, the equipment that we need to rescue people or rescue tools to pull people out of vehicles on accidents to get into structure fires to look for heat inside of structures to try to find bodies that may be stuck inside, that equipment is very expensive and we need the money to help provide the equipment that we need," Jeremy Auldridge said, Savoy Firefighter.

The department raised $10,000 last year. They hope to do better this year.
