Update on New Durant High School

Posted: Updated:

DURANT, OK --  Work continues on the new high school in Durant.  The $35 million new complex is starting to look a little more complete.

The roof is in!  This month, crews will finish the steel framing and the concrete slab to the main building and will start working on the front of the building and the drywall on the inside of the structure.  School officials say it's good for the kids and the community.  "To actually see the growth, and see the potential that our students would be in this next year and the commercial that it provides for our community driving up and down the highway is just fantastic, and it speaks to the devotion that our families and our community have for our kids and for the education," said Durant Superintendent Dr. Jason Simeroth.  The district hopes the new campus will be finished by August of next year.
