Bryan County Citizens Plan For Festival at Fort Washita

Posted: Updated:

BRYAN COUNTY--After a fire consumed a national landmark, Bryan County citizens are fighting back. They want to see their monument stand again.

Bryan County citizens met at the Madill BBQ pit Thursday night to discuss forming a board that would actively coordinate fundraising for Fort Washita.  Several community leaders and citizens were present.

Citizens will be holding a festival at Fort Washita this November.

"Actually I'd love to see it become better," Kelli Taylor said. "Maybe this event can be a yearly thing and I had one citizen suggest to me--I thought it was a wonderful idea--have the festival every year until each building is restored."

The fundraiser event is November 13 at the fort, starting at 10:00 am. There will be a car show and silent auction.
