Sherman Church Holds Family Fall Festival

Posted: Updated:

SHERMAN, TX--The fall festival didn't stop in Denison Saturday. A local church held their own as well.

St. Mary's held it's 16th annual family fall festival to help raise money for their church and school. Nearly 500 people attended the celebration--a record number for the church.

"A lot of the kids really liked the face painting," Kathleen Gionfriddo said, Fall Festival co-chair. "The little girls like the pampered princess because they get their hair and makeup done. The big kids like archery and the football toss. There's just so many things for them to choose from."

"And then the food," Terry Crow said, Fall Festival co-chair. "Everybody likes it because we get the ethnic groceries. We have the Salvadorian food--the Spanish--so they get to try--people don't get to try those kinds of foods--foods of normal life--they get to try it here.

Preparations for the event took several weeks. Church members say they also hold the festival to celebrate faith and family.
