Bike Rider Raises Awareness through Cross-Country Ride

Posted: Updated:

ARDMORE,OK--Can you imagine biking for over 2500 miles across the country?

Well, that is exactly what Iris Klein is doing this month and on Tuesday she made a stop in Texoma.

Klein, a German-American, decided to bike from Chicago to Los Angeles to raise awareness and funding for breast cancer research.

Along with biking, Klein is making stops at various health clubs to promote health and fitness including Ladies Workout Express in Ardmore.

Klein lost a close friend to breast cancer in 2009--something she use to motivate her to ride.

"I wanted to change this devastating experience into something positive," Klein said, "and not just sit at home and cry because that doesn't change anything and it doesn't help anybody who's still fighting the battles."

Klein held a fun, fitness activity at Fitness Express until 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. On Wednesday, she got back on the road with her next stop taking her to Amarillo, Texas.
