Sherman School Board Discusses Possibility of New Sports Complex

Posted:

SHERMAN, TX--Sherman ISD is discussing the first step in creating a new sports complex for students.

The board will meet at 7:00 Monday night at Sherman High School to discuss the possibility of building a $30 million facility.

The complex will include a baseball field, tennis courts, a track and a recreation room. One advocate says that the project could bring more business to Sherman.

"The playoff games, the track the schools and all that," John Arriazola said, planning committee spokesperson. "The restaurants make money around there. The sales taxes and all that--all that's going to be combined here in Sherman. We think it's going to change the dynamics of Sherman."

The plans may be approved in the next couple of weeks.
If they are, tax payers will get to vote on a possible property tax increase next May.
