Ardmore Chamber Works to Put Up Welcome Signs

ARDMORE,OK--Drivers on Interstate 35 are about to see a new sign as they roll into the city of Ardmore.

New, stone welcome signs will soon go up along the southbound 12th avenue interchange and the northbound interchange for exit 31A.

The signs will feature native stone from southern Oklahoma and masonry work.

Funding for the project came entirely from private donations.

Mita Bates at the Chamber of Commerce says the new signs will help display community pride.

"We have about 31,000 cars pass along I-35 every day and so we wanted to have a great visual that represents what kind of community we are," Bates said.

Officials say the project will cost around $70,000 dollars.

They expect to start building the new signs in about a month and hope to complete the project by the holidays.
