Ardmore Police Issue Warning about Area Scam

Posted:

ARDMORE,OK--Ardmore police issued a warning Tuesday for area residents--specifically senior citizens.

According to police, senior citizens have been receiving phone calls from people asking for their personal information.

The information includes their social security number, date of birth, and even bank account information.

One resident was told to give up their personal information--or lose social security benefits.

"Well, I think that they try to prey on anybody that they think they can convince that they have to give this information to and that could be the senior citizens and it could be middle aged people," said corporal Jason Qualls. "They just get scared, they don't understand, they just, oh, they need this. I'm going to have to give it to them."

Police say to beware of these calls and never give out your personal information over the phone.
