Officers Promoted in Ardmore

Posted: Updated:

It was one year ago,  KTEN was the first to bring you news of turmoil within the City of Ardmore and the Ardmore Police Department under fire by some of it's own officers and the community. But now, a year later, Ardmore  has a new police chief  and officers say their department has come a long way. Meredith Saldana has more on this story.

The Ardmore Police Department honored two of its own, Friday, during a promotion ceremony.

Ardmore police officers Brice Woolly and Dewayne Adams were promoted in a ceremony at Ardmore City Hall.

The police department promoted officer Woolly to Sergeant and officer Adams to Corporal.

Sergeant Woolly has been with the department for 9-and-a-half years.

His father attended the event, a man the Sergeant says has made a big impact on his life.

"Not only did he have a full time job, but when he came home, he had a farm on the side," says Woolly. "He would get home and work till dark. They instilled in me a kind of a work ethic and I think maybe now some of that is paying off."

With their promotions come new job duties.

Corporal Adams will now be training new recruits, Sergeant Woolly will be a shift supervisor.

So far, the Ardmore Police Department has promoted seven officers this year.
