Grayson County Commissioners to Sign Jail Contract

Posted: Updated:

GRAYSON COUNTY, TX -- County commissioner voted to move forward with renovations to the jail. They approved signing a contract with the Wiginton Hooker Architectural Firm.

The county started working with the firm back in 2002 when the option of building a new jail was still on the table. It's a move that Sheriff Keith Gary says he supports. "They are really recognized throughout the state for some really good jails that they designed and we think they'll do us a good job here."

The county hopes to have a contract signed and ready by February before the state takes away a 46-bed variance. Sheriff Gary says it could take a year to a year and three months to renovate the jail.
