SHERMAN, TX--The start of a new school year is just around the corner. Sherman and Denison head back to class on the 23rd. Friday was a chance for new Sherman teachers to get aquatinted.

Sherman Independent School District and local businesses held a luncheon to welcome the 69 new teachers to Texoma.

For some, it's their first teaching job.

"But once I got into the classroom--this was the material I fell in love with--and I love working with the students at the high school level, and so, once I got in there I realized it was for me," Kenric Davies said, high school physics teacher.

"We want everybody to know that Sherman's a great place, and by us giving this lunch and telling them, we can show them what we have in Sherman and how wonderful this place is to live in, to do business in and to be a teacher in," Traci Carlson said, Sherman Chamber of Commerce President.

Several sponsors were present to help the new teachers become familiar with what Sherman has to offer.
