Bonham Church Celebrates 139th Anniversary

Posted: Updated:

BONHAM, TX--A Texoma church celebrates its 139th anniversary Sunday. Bethlehem Baptist Church started as a log cabin in 1871 until it expanded a year later and moved to its current location.

After a meal, there was plenty of celebration through worship, singing and dancing this afternoon.

There was also a visiting church--St. Mark Baptist church--from McKinney.

"God has been good to this church for 139 years," Delmer Traylor said, Chairman of the Deacon Board. "It's just good to celebrate. It's just good to celebrate how far God has brought us. We've come a long way. This church has come a long way."

Services included a memorial to remember the church's history. Several speakers were also present.
