Texoma Bucks the National Unemployment Trend

Posted:

GRAYSON COUNTY, TX -- Since the extended unemployment benefits ran out last month, June fifth to be exact, local job placement agencies have been working overtime. Deeda Payton reports on the local impact.

Workforce Solutions Texoma says they really can't say all of their clients are being impacted by the cuts in unemployment benefits because they say unemployment across our area is also up slightly. "We've seen just a slight increase, nothing like you would've expected. On the national scene you would think oh there would be hundreds and hundreds of people coming in," said Janie Bates of Workforce Solutions Texoma.

Bates stresses the importance of getting back into the workforce as quickly as possible even if the pay isn't what you want. Employees stand a better chance of networking for better jobs than the unemployed.
