Oklahoma Fire Department Hosts Fish Fry and Poker Run

Posted: Updated:

ROBERTA, OK--An Oklahoma volunteer fire department held a fundraiser today to keep themselves in operation.

The Roberta Volunteer Fire Department held its 11th annual fish fry to help raise money to keep the station up and running. They also held a poker run, where players traveled all over Texoma for their playing cards. The department hopes to raise nearly $7,000 with this fundraiser, combined with their upcoming winter chili supper.

"If we don't have the money to operate on, then our response time gets slower, we don't have the proper equipment, proper personal protective clothing that we need to keep everybody safe and out of harm's way as best as we can," Andy Daniel said, Roberta Fire Chief.

The Southern Oklahoma Blood Institute was also present for those who wanted to donate.

The fire chief says that the station also gets sponsored by Oklahoma state legislators.
