Restaurant Owner Has Concerns Over Property Appraisals

Posted:

DENISON, TX--With the sluggish economy, and property taxes around Texoma, the slow-down has some local business owners concerned.

Restaurant owner Charles Watson says that his restaurants have been over appraised for the past few years.

Watson is currently having a realtor examine and contest his property value.

"And you have to raise your prices, you have to get more people in these doors and you get the big chains coming in, which slows your volume down--and they're not paying as much taxes for a while," Watson said.

The Grayson County Appraisal Board advises property owners who have concerns to attend their open meetings. Values are figured by the Texas Tax Code.
