Local Red Cross searching for stolen trailer

Posted: Updated:

The Red Cross is asking the public to be on the lookout for a trailer of theirs, stolen from a Gainesville location Sunday night.

Sharon Watson, director of the local Red Cross, said the trailer was stationed at Whaley Methodist Church in Gainesville to be used in emergency shelter situations, and the trailer contained cots, blankets and other emergency gear and shelter supplies.

It was late Sunday when volunteers went to put supplies into the trailer when it was discovered stolen. Gainesville Police took the report.

The trailer is 16-feet in length, white in color with Red Cross logos on it. It's license plate reads 16D523.

While Watson said the trailer and contents are valued at about $7,500, "it's the principal of it. That trailer is there for the people of Cooke County."
