Grayson County's Salvation Army Welcomes New Captain

Posted: Updated:

GRAYSON COUNTY, TX -- Grayson County's Salvation Army has a new captain. We told you a few days ago about Don New and his wife Kelly. Today Deeda Payton sat down with Captain New.

Captain New has been in the Salvation Army for ten years and says he has worked in Dallas before and is happy to be back in Texas. He is replacing former captain, David Grisbay, who recently pled guilty to drug charges.

Captain New and his family have only been in Grayson County about a week and they say they still have a lot of unpacking to do. "There's a lot of cool things about this command. We're excited. We've been here a week now and we're looking forward to it," said Captain Don New.

Captain New was born and raised in Alabama and says he comes from a family of salvationists. He and his family just spent the past two years in Greenville, Mississippi at a smaller command post.
