Ada City Council mulls use of one-cent sales tax

Posted:

Soon, Ada voters will decide whether to continue a penny sales tax measure used to fund projects around that city.

For years, Ada used the one-cent add-on to the state sales tax to help upgrade the city's health system at Valley View Regional Hospital. The length of that taxing period will expire soon.

The Ada City Council will hand the decision over to voters on August 24th.

If voters approve the measure, the penny sales tax could fund a new fire station, police station, new signal lights, remodeling city buildings, or adding new ball fields and lighting to the park system.

A June 30th meeting is slated to allow the city council to pass a resolution giving these potential projects a list of priority.
