Mammogram Screenings Offered to Uninsured

Posted: Updated:

ARDMORE, OK - -The chance of developing invasive breast cancer at some time in a woman's life is about one in eight, that's 12%. Now, an Ardmore group is hoping to help uninsured women receive a free mammogram screening to help lower those statistics. Meredith Saldana has more on this story.

There are a few qualifications, it's for women ages 35-65 years old, who are uninsured and who qualify as low income.

The Good Shepherd Clinic on 12th Street was given a grant to fund the screenings.

Employees of the clinic say this is one screening women must pay close attention to.

They also tell us, if anything is found in your screening they will cover any additional tests that may be needed.

"There's other tests that you'll have to do if they find something. They'll do an ultra sound or other things and we will cover everything until you know exactly what's wrong and what it is," says Hailey Wright.

If you're not sure if you qualify just take your most recent pay check stub to The Good Shepherd Clinic, they'll let you know if you qualify.

There are still two more days to get signed up for your screening, Monday, June 21st from 10am to 2pm and Thursday June 24th from 3pm to 7pm.
