Drug Bust in Grayson County

Posted: Updated:

Local police cracked down on a suspected drug dealer. Two individuals are behind bars tonight in possession of drug paraphernalia.

Grayson County police executed a search warrant around 6:30 this morning just blocks from a Denison elementary school. A 36-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man were found in possession of meth, marijuana, and other drug paraphernalia.

The sheriff's office believes at least one of the suspects intended to sell the drugs.

"Probably both were users; one inside the home was probably a dealer and we're still going to be looking for other possible suspects that we're going to be filing charges on as well," said Ricky Wheeler of the Grayson County Sheriff's Office.

The case is still under investigation, but this isn't the only drug incident that the Grayson County narcotics unit has dealt with. Wheeler says that many drugs start south of the border.

"The meth normally comes out of Mexico. It comes to points as far as Dallas which are distribution points and from Dallas it goes to 20, 30 and of course up 75 which goes directly up north," said Wheeler.

According to Arthur Horn, founder of Four River's Outreach, drugs don't just affect the users, they affect family members as well.

"Her mother sold her to drug dealers when she was 8 years old, helped tie her up in bed," Horn said. "They raped her for 3 days and 3 nights and didn't give her any food or water, and she's 26 now, never had anyone to love her. Just been living with people that abused her and that goes on in our community."

Horn said that Four Rivers Outreach is a resource for substance abusers asking for help.

"Most of our clients are hardcore drug users, and its such a powerful force, they'll sell their mother, their children, anything for drugs," he said.
If charged, officers believe that it would mean a 2nd degree felony for both of the suspects.
The two were arraigned Friday afternoon. The address and suspect names have not yet been released.
