New Rail Line is helping Local Businesses Get their supplies

Posted: Updated:

DENISON, TX -- A new rail line will hopefully bring in more transportation and goods to the Texoma area.

The "track solution" is opening up new avenues for existing and potential businesses.  It is giving companies another option on how to drop off and deliver supplies.  "It gives rail spur access for shipping of products and supplies for companies", says Harry Kirsham of the Denison Development Alliance.

The $250,000 project has been in the works for years.  Now with the help of a track switch donated by Progress Rail, rail cars can be transported from the main Union Pacific Rail Line to another track, which they use to load and unload materials.  According to track officials the new rail line can help save companies time and money.

Nick named the "team track" because of the combination of efforts of the Union Pacific Rail Line, Denison Development Alliance and Progress Rail.

The track is located at Ray Yards which is North of Denison. Hwy 75 crosses near Exit 70. The spur is usable but a loading dock is still in the works and is expected in the near future.
