Firework Donations Needed in Marshall County

MARSHALL COUNTY, OK-- The Marshall County Chamber of Commerce will soon start collecting funds for their annual fireworks show.

It's an American tradition held every year at the Lake Texoma Lodge site.

"It's really going to be one of the largest in the region here," said Chamber member Jeff Hudson.

This year, they need help to pay for such a grand show.

"It costs eleven-hundred dollars a minute, and we try to have a decent show, anywhere from fifteen to twenty minutes. It ranges in cost from eighteen to thirty thousand dollars," said Hudson.

To raise the thirty thousand or so for the fireworks display this year, they will be depending on sponsors and donations.

"We'll take anything from a penny to one-hundred dollars," Hudson said.

The old Texoma Lodge site is gone now to make way for the new Pointe Vista resort, but they are still able to use that location for the more than fifteen-hundred people who come every year.

"It also helps bring people down to Lake Texoma and lets them know we're here and still alive and well down here," said Hudson.

The donation boxes will be at several locations around Kingston and Madill including Chickasaw Point Golf Course and Madill Laser Tag.

"The donation boxes are advertising to let folks know we're going to have one-also for some extra change to help pay for the show," Hudson explained.

The boxes will be out by the beginning of next week, and any donation for this year's show is welcome.
